Why Thoshika

Why companies switch to Thoshika

Fewer subscriptions, no re-keying between tools, and payroll, GST and company law handled inside the product. Here is the case, with the numbers.

Books invoices list with GST invoice numbers per financial year and GSTIN, customers, references, status, due dates and amounts.Books invoices list with GST invoice numbers per financial year and GSTIN, customers, references, status, due dates and amounts.
The case

Six reasons to switch

Cut the subscription stack

HR and payroll, accounting, CRM, helpdesk, inventory and more under one subscription, one GST invoice and one renewal.

Stop re-keying

Payroll posts journals, quotes become invoices, purchase orders match bills. Records are entered once and used everywhere.

Compliance handled

PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, GST returns, e-invoice and the MCA calendar inside the product, as dated rules you can audit.

One source of truth

One employee, customer, vendor and item master, so reports agree across finance, HR and sales without a spreadsheet in between.

Secure by design

Row-level tenant isolation in the database, passkeys, MFA, roles scoped to an entity, GSTIN or branch, and field-level audit.

People who answer

Our own team replies to [email protected], usually within one working day, and migration is free and done for you.

All prices billed annually, excluding GST, implementation and promotions. At these list prices the two cost about the same; the difference is one vendor, one login and one set of records instead of five, with migration done for you. Keka is quote-only and not shown.

Principles

April to March
Financial year, year-to-date figures and returns follow the Indian year.
Lakhs and crores
Amounts in rupees with Indian digit grouping throughout.
Rates by date
A new rate is a new version from a date. Earlier payslips keep reconciling.
State by state
Professional tax, LWF, holidays and minimum wages follow each Indian state.
Compliance, done for you

Payroll, GST and company law, built in

Statutory rules are kept as dated data, so they can change without rewriting history. Earlier payslips and returns keep reconciling.

People

PF and ESI

Contributions are worked out on the right wage base every month, including the edge cases payroll teams usually handle by hand.

  • EPF at 12% of PF wages up to the wage ceiling, or on full wages where the employee or template opts for it; VPF on top
  • Employer EPS, EPF, EDLI and admin charges, with EPS stopping at age 58
  • ESI coverage by the monthly wage rate, carried through the contribution period once it applies
  • ECR file for EPFO and the ESIC monthly contribution file, built from finalised payslips

Professional tax and labour welfare fund

The place of work decides the state. Slabs and amounts are kept as dated rate tables that payroll administrators can update.

  • State professional tax slabs, including February amounts and half-yearly deduction where the state uses it
  • Labour welfare fund in the months each state collects it
  • State summaries and employee registers for filing
  • Exemptions such as persons with disability

TDS on salary

Tax is projected for the year and re-projected every run, so bonuses, arrears and declaration changes spread over the remaining months.

  • Old and new tax regimes, with the standard deduction, rebate, surcharge and cess
  • Employee declarations used until December, verified proofs from January
  • Previous-employer income and TDS for mid-year joiners
  • Form 24Q Annexure I data each quarter and Form 16 Part B for each employee

Wages, gratuity and bonus

Salary structures are checked against the wage rules when you build them, not when an inspector asks.

  • A warning when basic and DA fall below half of remuneration, under the Code on Wages
  • A warning when pay is below the state minimum wage for the skill level
  • Statutory bonus, gratuity and leave encashment in full and final settlement
  • Statutory leaves such as maternity leave set up from the law

Books

GST

Books is built around Indian GST, with one registration per state in the same company.

  • A GSTIN per state with its own branch and invoice series; GSTINs are checksum-validated
  • GST worked out per line and rounded the way the rules require
  • GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B prepared from posted documents, with the JSON for upload
  • GSTR-2B imported and matched against purchase bills to decide what input credit to claim
  • E-invoice and e-way bill data exported for the portal; the IRN, signed QR and e-way bill number are imported back and printed

TDS and TCS on business payments

Deductions are applied by section and threshold as bills are entered and paid.

  • TDS by section and threshold, and TCS where it applies
  • Form 26Q and 27Q data, including the input file for the Protean FVU
  • Form 16A certificates for vendors
  • MSME vendors tracked against the 45-day payment rule, with an interest report

Company Compliance

Company law

The company secretary, directors and auditors work from one calendar of what is due under the Companies Act.

  • Directors and key managerial personnel, with DIN and KYC dates
  • Board and general meetings, minutes and statutory registers
  • An MCA filing calendar with due dates for annual and event-based forms
  • Shareholding and cap table, licences and renewals

People, CRM and Sangam

Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

The apps that hold personal data give you the tools to act as a responsible data fiduciary.

  • Data principal requests in People, routed for approval to your data protection officer
  • Consent status and purpose recorded per lead and contact in CRM
  • Erasure on request for former employees and guests in Sangam, with retention settings
  • Privacy notices shown on public forms and booking pages

Salary files in bank upload layouts

Salary payments can be exported in files built to the published bulk-upload layouts of HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India, or as a generic NEFT file. Check the first file with your bank before you rely on it; Thoshika is not affiliated with these banks.

Checking the rules. Tax slabs, rates and form labels change with each budget and state notification. Rates are kept in tables your payroll administrator can update from a date, and we update the defaults as laws change. Please confirm figures with your tax adviser before you file.

Beyond compliance

One suite instead of a stack of subscriptions

Payroll that posts to the books, quotes that become invoices, purchase orders that match bills: when the apps share records, month-end is a review rather than a reconciliation exercise.

FAQ

Questions about switching

How long does it take to switch?

Most of the work is preparing exports. The migration wizard maps, validates and dry-runs each file before anything is saved, so you can test with real data during the free trial and choose your cut-over date, usually the start of a month or quarter.

Can we keep using Tally for a while?

Yes. Thoshika can pull from Tally through the Integration Hub while you run both, then you move fully when you are ready.

What happens to our data if we leave?

You can export your data at any time while your subscription is active, and for 30 days after it ends.

Do statutory changes cost extra?

No. We update the default rates and slabs as laws change, as part of the subscription. Rates are kept as dated tables your payroll administrator can also update.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, 14 days of the whole suite, with help to import your own data.
